General Tours & Insight Tours Partner on Cuba Opening Road to Profits for Agents

Insight Cuba and General Tours World Traveler have renewed their exclusive partnership. Insight Cuba was one of the first organizations to receive a specific license from the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) to provide people-to-people tours, and is now permitting General Tours to make travel agent referrals to Insight Cuba through a special letter of authorization from OFAC. The two companies first collaborated in 2003 and together sent the most Americans to Cuba before travel restrictions were reinstated in 2004. With four small group journeys on offer for 2012-2013, General Tours is providing travel agencies with the widest choice to Cuba. There’s another important detail: Travel agents earn a referral fee on all bookings and General Tours World Traveler preferred levels apply. The company’s agent-friendly group policy includes a $100 per couple agent bonus for groups starting at only eight guests. "Insight Cuba has been the established leader in people-to-people travel to Cuba since 2000," said Bob Drumm, president of General Tours World Traveler. • Classic Cuba (eight days from $3,595) features four days in the capital city, interaction with local musicians and a look at the history and artistic heritage of Cuba’s southern coast, with two days in the colorful colonial UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trinidad and a day in "The Pearl of the South," Cienfuegos.
• Scenic Cuba (eight days from $3,195) features four days in Havana and a westward journey to Pinar del Río and its scenic Viñales Valley, celebrated as the home of Cuba’s world-famous tobacco fields, for one-on-ones with the local guajiros (farmers).
• Cuban Music & Art (nine days from $4,295) features four days in Havana including a behind the scenes look at one of Cuba’s top recording labels, followed by a flight to Santiago de Cuba, "Cuba’s culture capital," where guests enjoy lively engagement with veteran professionals and talented young students of art, music and dance.
• Undiscovered Cuba (12 days from $4,195) features three days in Havana followed by in-depth and exclusive experiences in historic towns that other U.S. licenses do not offer including: Remedios and Baracoa, Cuba’s oldest Spanish settlement founded on the spot where Christopher Columbus landed on his first voyage. These four small group trips are limited to 24 travelers and include carefully selected hotels, all meals, in-country ground, transfers, all entry fees to events, a Cuban guide, an Insight Cuba tour leader, U.S. Treasury Department license and Letter of Authorization, travel health insurance and trip cancellation coverage (up to $1,000).
