Breezes Rio Bueno, formerly Grand Lido Braco, will close its doors on April 30. The decision was made after John Issa, chairman of SuperClubs Super-Inclusive Resorts determined that “our strenuous two-year effort to arrive at a mutually satisfactory lease arrangement with the owners was not going to succeed.” 
SuperClubs terminated the lease for “force majeure” but continued to operate the hotel in good faith during negotiations.
“The owners had ample opportunity to secure a new operator, but it appears none has been found,” said Issa. “It is very unfortunate that we could not come to an arrangement to keep Breezes Rio Bueno open, but that is the nature of this business. Breezes Resorts are still as popular as ever, and we will be concentrating our efforts on all our resorts in Jamaica, Bahamas, Curaçao, Brazil, Panama and Cuba.”
SuperClubs took over operations at Breezes Rio Bueno in 1996. Soon after, it received the AAA Four Diamond resort rating and became a favorite destination for vacationers who enjoyed its Jamaican Village setting. The hotel was also known for its annual “Best of Jamaica” event, which was held in partnership with Caribbean Travel and Life magazine every October since 2004.
