Sandals Grande Riviera Wins Big after Major Redo Last year, Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Villa Golf Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica completed an extensive makeover totaling close to $60 million. The resort’s 529 rooms and suites were renovated, new dining options were added, the Ochi Beach Club debuted and the Red Lane® Spa refurbished. This major transformation of the resort netted it a major award, with Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Villa Golf Resort winning the title of Jamaica’s Leading Resort 2011 at the World Travel Awards. “We needed to get everything a little bigger and better at the Sandals Grande Riviera Beach,” said Brian Roper, General Manager of Sandals Grande Riviera Beach & Villa Golf Resort. “We spent close to $6.5 million dollars fixing the beach. We have upgraded 126 rooms and at this time spent close to $2.6 million on those 126 rooms.” The resort’s new Ochi Beach Club features three ivory-sand beaches offering private Balinese cabanas, teak lounge chairs, an over-the-water-promenade, romantic firepits, a winding grotto pool and barefoot dining on the beach. Beach butler service is included for guests in top-tier suites. New restaurants at Sandals Grande Riviera include Soy sushi bar, Bella Napoli Pizzeria, serving made-to-order, brick-oven pizzas, Kimonos teppanyaki-style restaurant, Neptune's, serving Mediterranean classics right at the beach and Kelly's Dockside, a fine dining Caribbean restaurant set over the water. There’s also a grand amphitheater featuring nightly entertainment from cabaret-style shows to a sizzling dance club directly on the beach.
